JOHN HOWARD
Finding influence and inspiration in the world around me....I work with earthly materials such as wood, metal and stone.

Always creative as a child, I attended art college to study illustration before embarking on a career in the boat building industry as a fiberglass technician and mould maker.
This career led me to New Zealand and the experience allowed me to fully embrace my creative journey, finding myself working in and around the local film industry, at times producing large scale installations and public art pieces.
After a life time of working in plastics and resins, a chance conversation about the materials needed to create a war memorial able to last for 200 years, led me to work in more earthly materials such as concrete, wood, metal and stone. Embracing a more traditional aesthetic finding influence and inspiration from my time in New Zealand and my new home in High Peak.
Currently working “in the round” my work incorporates both shape and balance, texture and light in form and space.
